Renal denervation

Renal denervation is used in selected patients who has uncontrolled hypertension despite being on few tablets. There is still more evidence needed for this procedure to be performed routinely, but can help reduce the blood pressure along with the tablets. This involves using a special tube placed in the blood vessel supplying the kidney (renal artery) and burning the nerve endings at that level. This can be performed with local anesthesia with slight sedation and can be discharged in 1-2 days time.
