Bifurcation stenting

Bifurcation stenting is done in patients where the narrowing (blockage) occurs at the level of division of two arteries. The idea of stenting is not to compromise the flow in the branch artery. There are various types of techniques to be used depending on the location of the narrowing to decide between if one or two stents are needed. There are also presently dedicated bifurcation stents, which are being used to help the situation. Strategic planning with the help of angiogram is the key to do this procedure to achieve good blood flow in both branches of the arteries. Most of the bifurcation stenting can be done via the wrist.
